Battlefield 2142 does not work on Dell Dimension 4700?

I have Battlefield 2142 by Electronic Arts and a Dell Dimension 4700 with Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 2. When the Battlefield executable is clicked, the screen blackens as though it were going to start and then restores to the regular desktop, failing to start. I installed the update patch 1.5, but it still doesn't work. Does anyone know what I can do?

It's a good game, but it needs a graphics card and lot's of ram to play it, you only have onboard video which is not good enough.

It looks like you may have a PCI-express x16 graphics card slot on your motherboard, so you can buy a card.

You will also want at least 1.5gb of ram, preferably 2gb. If you have less than 512mb, bin it and get two matched pairs of 1gb.
