either the 6200 or the x1550 'should ' be more than enough.. granted, you're probably only going to get a max playable resolution of 1024x768 (mainly because your on the old PCI bus, and the cards only have 4 pixel pipelines)..

Battlefield 2 Crashes?
i was having d3dx9_25.dll missing errors, but i fixed it and now when i start up battlefield, it will do the ea logo, and go part way through the video, but then shut down BF2, so i tried afain, and tried hitting esc and enter, but it wouldnt skip the video, and it just shut down sooner.

Cod4 campaign is awful to put it fairly, its only good multiplayer. so if you dont want anything multiplayer, this isnt your game. The campaign isnt too exciting tbh
BF: Bad company is an awful game all around, the multiplayer i thought lacked and the campaign was fairly boring, its a war game trying to be funny. i think its personally awful
Prototype looks like a good game tbh, good story which looks quite exciting

Issues with Battlefield 2142 when joining a game?
I click a game and it loads. Once I enter the game it freezes for a second then goes to the main menu to join another game. A message pops up and says "punkbuster". I already checked with punkbuster; it says it is up to date.

If you can find a 1.5 *cumulative* patch (the file size will likely be well in excess of a gigabyte), that is all you need to download. If you can't find a cumulative patch, you'll need to find the highest cumulative patch you can and download it. (Cumulative patches contain ALL the patches that came before it.) Then, you will have to download and apply the remaining one by one.
Do your self a favour...Save the patches to a folder somewhere safe, and then install from the folder. This will save you the hassle of having to re-download in the future if you come across problems and have to re-install the game (or, de-patch to an earlier version).

I have battlefield 2 installed on my comp (its on my 1TB external HD and it runs and works fine). Its never been patched or modded etc.
Going to join the online experience soon but first got told to patch the game to 1.5. So i downloaded the 1.9GB patch. Came up with an error in installation setup saying 'you already have a newer version installed'. Done some googleing, found that v1.41 needs to be patched first. Downloaded the patch of the BF2 official site and on installation setup comes up with the error message 'Unable to get available disk space'. Followed by 'You have too little space on your harddrive to patch BF2(TM). You need at least 420MB on your Windows Drive and at least 1670MB on your BF2 drive.'
Common sence, I have plenty of free space on both drives (external where BF2 is installed and on main internal drive). I restarted my comp (not that I think it would have helped anyways) but that obviously didn't help.
Any ideas people? Only give answers if you actually know the answer/solution don't take guesses.
I'm presuming it might be related to the fact its installed on my external drive.
I would re-install it or try installing it on my main C drive but that takes time. I'm hoping its something like a simple fix.
(Oh yeh and I've tried changing this folder name to 'InstallShield_old' under common files in program files which was said by a user on some forum saying it was the problem. But it didn't work).

Yeah, its got to do with your disk space. Try installing it on a drive that has enough space to store all those game files. Best to install in C drive. Also, make sure you get punkbuster update file.
And about bf2, that game is already so old. Its not like they update the game with newer and newer additions.
The last time I tried playing it, not many people even play it. Servers are usually empty. EA even stopped operating servers in some countries such as Thailand and Singapore.

I need help installing a patch for Battlefield 2?
I've got an idea what the problem is, it's Windows Vista. I reninstalled Battlefield 2 and I'm trying to patch it. I got the 1.41 downloaded and installed. Now I've got 1.5 downloaded but I can't get it installed. I double-click it and it loads, but it keeps loading. I've let it try to load for over an hour and the install prompt hasn't popped up yet. It didn't even do that damn "Are you sure you can trust this thing?" prompt Vista does.I've tried deleting the patch and redownloading it, but it's doing the same thing....

Maps on Battlefield 2 for PC not showing up in game?
I have re-installed the game (which is the basic bundle without any expansions), and I have installed patches 1.4, 1.41, and 1.5, the last of which includes the maps from the booster packs but not from Special Forces.
Now, all the maps are located in the "levels" folder in the EA Games/Battlefield 2/mods/bf2, but only most of them appear in the game. Every single map in the left side and right side columns here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:Li鈥?/a> appear in the "levels" folder, but the maps which do not appear in the game are as follows:
Highway Tampa
Kubra Dam
Mashtuur City
Operation Blue Pearl
Wake Island 2007

Now, all the maps are located in the "levels" folder in the EA Games/Battlefield 2/mods/bf2, but only most of them appear in the game. Every single map in the left side and right side columns here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:Li鈥?/a> appear in the "levels" folder, but the maps which do not appear in the game are as follows:

Some maps do not have a singleplayer option, so they wont show up in the list, they are available to play in multiplayer only.

I have an old copy of battlefield 2 for pc. it works on my computer and i have the patches both 1.41 and 1.5. I can play single player and retrieve my old account. But when i update server list and try to join a server it says "CD key is invalid". I have tried reinstalling the game, Changing CD Key in files, and a few other things. Any other ideas? Oh yeah, the problem with BF2 CD-Keys. Many people who bought it on steam (including me) couldn't go online. It was because every time you went into BF2 the registry would reset the CD-Key. On Steam BF2 forums someone had made a fix, that after BF2 launches the fix would automaticly enter the CD-Key...Search it on steam forums, it should be stickied, if not, just browse a few pages.

How do i get battlefield 2 bad company to run?
Hi i recently downloaded battlefield bad company 2 onto my acer aspire 6920 (vista) and it goes perfectly to the start up menu so i click on campaign it goes through the whole intro. I want to install the 1.5 patch but it says I have to install the 1.41 patch first. Well, I downloaded the 1.41 patch and ran the installation and the installing process went perfectly. nope, afraid not, you need to upgrade your graphics card as it is over 4 generations older than the current top of the line one. The cheapest card that can run Battlefield 2 is probably a 6600GT and considering you have an AGP port (since you have a GeForce MX which must be in AGP) The 6600GT is a very good card that can run most games at medium although it is starting to slow behind the current top of the line games.Can Battlefield 2 run on this computer?

Something is wrong with Battlefield 2 for my PC. Can you help?
I'm playing Battlefield 2 on my computer then and all of a sudden the game shuts down and takes me back to the desktop. I didn't hit the escape button or choose to leave a server--it just does it on its own. Aside from that, I've noticed that sometimes not all the servers are appearing. Sometime I'll see a list of over a thousand (1000) servers, and other times I'll only see around fifty (50) servers or much less than that. The server issue also happens with my Battlefield 2142 game (using patch 1.50). For the record, this just started to happen to me toaday (like around ten minutes ago).
Here is a brief description of my PC:

Geforce 6800 (256 MB) Graphics card

Hi, can anyone explain this to me?
I just bought a ATI Radeon HD 5450 RAGE, was only 30拢 but it is suppose to be at least twice as good as my old one (HD3650) and even able to run battlefield 3 and Skyrim.
So why is it that when I run it through the Windows Experience Index it's scoring lower than the 3650 was (5.1 compared to the now 2.2)?
Even though there's videos on YouTube of people running these games on the 5450. When I test it at cyri (can you run it), I fail to meet the minimum requirements. Even world of Warcraft Isn't meeting the recommended reqs?

That's a pretty complex topic. The crucial issue is the path from you to the other players. Lag comes from two separate and unrelated issues - bandwidth and latency. If the connection were plumbing, bandwidth would be the diameter of the pipes and latency would be the length of the pipes. The maximum flow is determined by the smallest pipe in the path while the response to the turning the faucet on is in the length of the pipes. Those correspond to the speed (not just at your connection but throughout the path) and the ping time, respectively.
In your case the problem is in the latency. The ping time of as much as a second and a half round trip is what is killing you (he he). That problem exists somewhere out in the network. Where? Try "tracert" instead of ping... it will tell you the entire path to the destination and the latency on each leg. (The tracert numbers don't add up to the ping numbers for reasons I don't completely understand and nobody seems able to explain well.) For example, when I do tracert from my computer to yahoo.com I get:

you can try to clean the scratchs of the disk using a very small amount of white toothpaste on a cloth and buffering into the cd, toothpaste will act as a reflector and extend the data (complicated and confusin **** but it works lol)
or as a crazy idea you could try a no DVD crack so you dont need the dvd to play it from gamecopyworld.com just find the one for your version and swap the exe's :)

I had the problem with battle field 2, where your achievements and medals dont save on your account. i heard that you have to download 1.4 and 1.5 patches. but only 1.4 if your battlefield is an old version which i dont think mine is. anyway i downloaded 1.5 and after it downloaded i clicked on it to install. a message appeared asking if i want it to make changes and i click yes. any way the installation starts but a message pops up saying that i "already have a newer version installed" i have not installed it before because this message had come up before and i cant find a file like it already in my bf2 folder. I have an iPod touch (4th generation) running iOS 5.0.1 and I have BattleField Bad Company 2 which crash anytime I join an ONLINE game. I just want to know if there is any fix or update for this problem.

Okay,here's the deal.
I've been playing Battlefield 2 for a long time.
I want to unlock the L96A1.
2 days ago I have bought Battlefield 2 Complete Collection, so I that have Special Forces.
I made a new account so I could get my first rank(and with that, a new unlock) fast.
I started playing on Special forces. My experience bar was full,yet I didn't rank up.
After another 5 games,I still hadn't ranked up. That was weird.
I closed the game, and went to regular Battlefield 2.
I played 1 game, and I ranked up. HOWEVER when I got back to my BFHQ, I was still a private.
Then I went back to Special Forces, played 1 game, and ranked up again. Same story: back to BFHQ, still private.
I exited my game. Today, I logged on and saw a popup message (in my main menu) That I had ranked up to Private First Class. But now, I don't have an unlock!
This is very weird,because in regular Battlefield 2, I had an unlock at Private first class.
Can someone help me on this? I hope this explanation includes everything you need to know.

2nd, if you used your original account you would have got an unlock for every unlock you have already received as soon as you played a round of Special Forces. So if you had already unlocked 4 classes you would get another 4 instantly ready to unlock in BFHQ.

You know you only need to install 1.5 right? In some cases you need to install 1.4 first, but the rest are not needed.
If you can't find a link it may be because the patch was removed for being buggy. At least one of patches caused major crashes.

Hello! :) I recently start playing Battlefield 2 again but the problem is that, theres about over 300 servers :P and only about 2 i can join, it say i has wrong version but im using the latest Battlefield 2 version. Ok i am going to download patch update 1.5 for battlefield 2. The reason why is because i want more maps and new guns, jets, and other vehicles. I think you get this error if you game isn't v1.41 before installing patch1.50.

Battlefield Bad company 2 update 1.0.5?
I recently bought BFBC 2 used for the PS3. Too play online i gotta download an update. The download goes fine until 99%, then it goes to a different screen and says there was a problem with the downloading process. It also says "suggest actions" and when i choose that it comes up and says try disabling the internet and the ps3 then try again. Ive tried that but it still stopped at 99%. The disk is clean, and my internet connection is perfectly fine. Ive never encountered this problem with any other games so i have no idea what to do. Tier 2 unlocks: You unlock these by playing 1 round of the Special forces Expansion Pack, then as normal by ranking up.
So unless you have Battlefield 2: Complete Collection or the Special Forces Expansion you can't unlock the Tier 2 weapons. (Unless you use your account on another computer with Special Forces installed and play 1 round.)
The 1.50 patch only has the booster packs included, which are Euro Forces and Armoured Fury, these don't have any new unlockable content, the expansion pack Special Forces does. The unlocks are in 2 sets:
